Fun in Philadelphia

Josh, Avery and I took our first trip back East this past weekend to visit Josh's family in Philadelphia.

Here we are about to leave for the airport. Avery thought this was the perfect time to spit up so Josh is cleaning her up before we walk out the door.
We decided it was in our best interest to get to the airport nice and early not knowing how much extra time we would need to take care of all the baby stuff. My heart stopped when we got up to the counter and the airline rep asked us for id for Avery. She asked for a birth certificate or something else that would show her age. I was thinking that if we didn't produce something, we wouldn't be able to get on the plane. I finally pulled out her insurance card, which I realized after looking at it didn't even have her birthday on it. Come to find out, the woman just needed the id to make sure the baby wasn't 2 years old because we would have to buy her a ticket if that were the case. We were thinking to ourselves, Avery has definitely been mistaken for being 2 months old, I think 2 years old is a real stretch. Anyway, the woman let us go with a stern warning about bringing id for future flights.

We decided it was time to grab a beer and a bite to eat.

We actually got through security without any problems and we had plenty of time to hang out. We were flying Southwest so we didn't have seat assignments but the flight only ended up being about 1/4 of the way full so we ended up with a row all to ourselves. Avery did so well on the plane, which was a big relief. Her favorite (and my least favorite) part was when we went into the airplane bathroom to change a #2. She was laughing and playing and having a grand old time!
Here are some pics from the flight.
Playing.

Sleeping son Dad's shoulder.

Playing handsies with Mom and Dad.

Uh oh, getting sleepy.

Going...

Going...

Really going...

Gone!

Avery was very excited to see her Momzie once we landed. She was all smiles!

Here she is getting ready to go meet her Great-Nana for the first time.

Some pics from visit with Nana.

Nana agreed that Avery is all her Dad. Although, she has been taking on some of my characteristics lately. For example, if you stop playing with her, she will start to whine until she has your full attention again. So, hey, there's some of her Mom in there:)
A great 4 generation shot.

After a great visit with Nana, we had our friends Sean and Leighanne join us for happy hour. They actually live a mile from where Ginny and Randy live. It was so nice to get a chance to catch up!

On Saturday, we hung out at the house for most of the day. The Smith clan (Nana, Uncle Don and Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Dave and Aunt Kathy, Cousin Bryant and his girlfriend, Megan and Cousins Amanda and Lenny with their beautiful daughter Violet) were set to arrive at 5pm so we decided to just hang out and relax until then.

Here is a pic of Avery holding hands with her Bindy.

We did end up heading out for one outing to the Market. It was pretty chilly out so Avery had to sport her snowsuit.

Here are a couple pics of Avery hanging out with her Aunt Kathy.

We had such a lovely trip. Ginny and Randy were wonderful, as always, and it was so much fun to see the family and introduce our little girl to her great-nana, aunts, uncles and cousins!

produce an ID for a baby? this is a little ridiculous isn't it? I have never encountered this request when flying with Samantha. weird. and seriously....as if the woman couldn't just look at her to know she wasn't 2 years old? chris would not do well when encountering this situation...glad it was you guys and not us.
